Privacy Policy
How A Good Life collects, uses, and shares your information when you use Sorted.
On this page
1. What we collect
- Your phone number, to sign you in with a one-time code sent over WhatsApp.
- Your name, date of birth, gender, who you want to be shown, and the bio, answers to the personality questions, and what you're looking for that you choose to write. Your date of birth is used to confirm you are 18 or older and to show your age.
- Your pixel avatar, and up to six photos you upload.
- Optional details you choose to add to your profile: work, education, hometown, pronouns, languages, height, and lifestyle answers such as exercise, drinking, smoking, family plans, zodiac sign, politics and religion. Religion and political views are sensitive information: they are entirely optional, shown only on a Date Card and on your own profile, and you can leave them blank or remove them at any time. We do not use them for advertising.
- Your location. With your permission, your phone's location is used to find people near you and venues between you. We keep your latest coordinates and city; we do not keep a history of where you've been. If you turn on travel mode, the place you pick is used instead.
- Your runs, picks, Date Cards, matches and chats — who you chose, who chose you, the plans, and the messages you send. Chat messages are scanned for phone numbers and similar contact details, which are blocked.
- Blocks and reports you make, and reports made about you.
- If you verify your photo: a short face scan from your front camera.
- A push-notification token for your phone, if you allow notifications.
- Your purchases: a signed record from the App Store or Google Play of the heart packs and Sorted Plus you bought, and when a subscription ends.
- Crash and error reports from the app: the error's name and a short technical trace, the screen it happened on, your device platform and the app build, tied to your account when you are signed in. They never include what you typed or saw, and are used only to find and fix faults.
- Technical information sent with each request — IP address, app version, device type — kept in server logs for security and troubleshooting.
2. What we don't collect
We do not use advertising identifiers, third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The crash and error reports above go only to our own server: they are not shared with anyone else and are not used to track you or for advertising. We never ask for your contacts or a government ID. We do not share your location with other people: they see only how far away you are, rounded. Your phone number is never shown to other people.
3. Who sees what
Before you match, other people see your pixel portrait, first name, age, distance, bio snippet, your answers, the optional details you have added (work, education, hometown, pronouns, languages, height and lifestyle answers), and whether you are verified. Your religion and political views are more private: they are shown only on a Date Card and on your own profile, never to people who are still choosing in a run. Your first photo is also shown to anyone who picks you in a run; your other photos are shown only to someone you have a locked plan with. Messages are visible only to the two people in a chat. Photo files are stored at addresses that are not published or listed, but anyone who has a photo's address can open it, so please upload only photos you are comfortable sharing with your matches.
4. Photo verification
If you choose to verify, the app records a short face scan and we compare it with your first profile photo, using our identity-verification provider Cashfree or, when that is switched off, a reviewer on our team. Whichever is used, the scan is processed only to decide whether the face matches, and we keep only the result — a verified tick against your account — and, while a request is waiting for review, the frames themselves in a private store that only our team can open. The tick is removed if you change your first photo. This is facial data and we treat it as sensitive; we do not use it for anything else.
5. How we use it
To sign you in, confirm you are an adult, build your run, show you to people who match your preferences and distance, send Date Cards and suggest venues, run chats, send notifications you've allowed (including an occasional reminder to finish your profile, which you can turn off in your phone's notification settings), apply the free daily limits, confirm your purchases, find and fix crashes, review reports and keep the service safe, answer support requests, and send notices about your account. We don't sell your data and we don't use it to show you ads.
6. Payments
Purchases are handled entirely by the Apple App Store on iPhone and by Google Play on Android. We receive only a signed confirmation of what you bought, never your card details.
7. Sharing
We share information only with the companies that help us run Sorted, and only as needed: Apple (purchases and push notifications on iPhone), Google (Play purchases, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications on Android), Meta's WhatsApp Business (delivering your sign-in code), Cashfree (face matching, when used), our hosting, storage and email providers (Render and Cloudflare), and OpenStreetMap services, which are sent an approximate midpoint to find venues and, where enabled, to name your city. We don't sell data to anyone. We may disclose information to the police or a court when the law requires it, or when needed to protect someone's safety. If the business is merged or sold, information may move with it and we will tell you.
8. Data retention and deletion
Your profile, photos, picks, matches and chats are kept for as long as your account exists. Run records are erased after 30 days. To delete your account, open Me, then Settings, then Delete account. We erase the account, photos, picks, matches, chats and any face-scan frames seven days later; write to hello@openslot.cc within that week to change your mind. Messages you sent may remain visible to the other person only until the account is erased. We may keep a record of reports, suspensions and purchases for as long as the law requires or for safety, and a phone number that was suspended may be kept so it cannot sign up again.
9. Your rights and choices
You can see and change your details in the app, delete photos, turn notifications off in your phone's settings, turn off location in your phone's settings, and cancel Sorted Plus in your Apple ID settings (iPhone) or in Google Play, under Payments and subscriptions (Android). Subject to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, and have a grievance addressed by writing to hello@openslot.cc (subject: Grievance). We acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within a month; if you are not satisfied you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
10. Where information is processed
Your information may be processed and stored in India and in other countries where our providers operate, over encrypted connections, behind access controls.
11. Children
Sorted is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly allow anyone younger to use it. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, write to us and we will remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page, and its date, if what we collect or how we use it changes, and tell you about changes that matter.
