Privacy Policy
How A Good Life collects, uses, and shares your information when you use Open notes and Open notes Cloud — the exact text shown inside the app.
On this page
This Privacy Policy explains how A GOOD LIFE (we, us, our) handles your information when you use Open notes, our notes app for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, and its optional paid feature, Open notes Cloud (together, the Service).
1. Who we are
Open notes is operated by A GOOD LIFE, 23, Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi 110016, India. For the information described here, A GOOD LIFE decides how and why it is used. Questions or requests: hello@openslot.cc.
2. What stays on your phone
Your notes, folders, profiles and settings are kept on your phone, in the app's own storage. We do not receive them unless you use Open notes Cloud (section 3). If you use Open notes without an account, nothing about you or your notes is sent to us. You can export all your notes at any time from Settings.
3. What we collect
3.1 Your account (only if you sign in)
- Your phone number, used to sign you in with a one-time code sent over WhatsApp. Signing in with a number that has no account makes one.
- Your name, and an email address and profile photo if you add them. It is the same OPEN SLOT account, so what is stored about it is described in the OPEN SLOT privacy policy too.
- If you allow notifications, your device's push token, used only to send you notifications you have asked for.
- Messages (and anything you attach) that you send to us through Help & support in the app, kept so we can answer you.
- If you switch on Offers and promotions: counts of your notes, the space they take, pictures and profiles, and how many days you open the app, used only to decide when to tell you about Open notes Cloud. Never the text of your notes. You can switch it off any time, and the counts are deleted.
3.2 Your subscription
- If you subscribe to Open notes Cloud, the App Store (iPhone, iPad or Mac) or Google Play (Android) gives us a signed record of the purchase: its identifier or purchase token, the product, when it started and ends, and whether it renews. We keep it to know whether cloud sync should be on.
- We do not see or store your card, your Apple ID, your Google account or your payment details. Apple or Google handles the payment.
3.3 Your cloud copy (only with Open notes Cloud)
- Your notes, folders, profile names and colours, and a list of what you have erased, so an erase reaches your other devices. This is sent to our servers only while you are subscribed and sync is switched on, and only for your account.
3.4 Collected automatically
- Technical information sent with requests, such as your IP address, app version and device type, kept in server logs for security and troubleshooting.
- We do not use advertising identifiers, analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
4. The clipboard
If the setting is on, Open notes looks at what you copied whenever you open the app or come back to it, so it can offer to save the links, @handles and #tags in it to a note. This happens on your phone: what you copied is not sent to us. It is only kept if you choose to save it into a note, and then it is a note like any other, subject to section 2 and, with Open notes Cloud, section 3.3. iOS may ask whether the app can paste from other apps, and Android may show a notice when the app reads the clipboard; you can change that in your phone's settings for the app, and turn the check off in Settings, Clipboard.
When a link you copied, or shared to Open notes, is offered to you, the app opens that link's page to show a small picture of it beside the link, the way a messaging app previews a link. If you subscribe to Open notes Cloud and turn on Find the @handle of a reel in Preferences, the app also reads, from an Instagram reel or post's page, who posted it, so it can save their @handle; this is off unless you turn it on. If you subscribe and turn on Paste link previews into notes, the small picture is saved in the note beside the link; it is then part of that note, subject to section 2 and, with Open notes Cloud, section 3.3. This too is off unless you turn it on.
- Your phone asks the website directly, not through us. We do not receive the link, the picture or the name, unless you save it into a note that is synced (section 3.3).
- The website sees what it would see if you opened the link in a browser: your IP address and the kind of device you use. It may also set a cookie, and get it back the next time the app opens one of its pages. The app never signs in to the website, and sends it nothing about your account or your notes.
- Only links to public websites are opened, and only the first few links in what you copied. How the website handles the visit is described in its own privacy policy.
5. How we use information
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To know whether your subscription is active, and to store and sync your notes if it is.
- To fix problems, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the Service secure.
- To meet tax, accounting and other legal obligations.
We do not sell your information and we do not use your notes for advertising, for training models or for anything else.
6. Who we share it with
- Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), which run the app store and take payment for the subscription.
- Meta (WhatsApp Business), which delivers your sign-in codes.
- Our hosting providers: Render for our servers and database, and Cloudflare for delivery and network security.
- Authorities, where the law requires it or where it is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our users or the public.
These providers process information for us only to run the Service. If we are involved in a merger or sale of the business, information may be transferred as part of it, and we will tell you.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account details are kept while your account is active, and erased seven days after you ask for it to be deleted (section 8).
- Your cloud copy is kept until you delete it (Profile, Billing, Delete cloud copy) or delete your account. It is not deleted when a subscription ends, so it is there if you subscribe again.
- Records of a subscription payment are kept for as long as Indian tax, accounting and other laws require (currently up to eight years).
- Server logs are kept for a limited time.
8. Your rights and choices
Subject to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, and have a grievance addressed. You can:
- Switch cloud sync off at any time, and delete the cloud copy (Profile, Billing).
- Export all your notes from Settings.
- Cancel your subscription: on iPhone, iPad or Mac in your Apple ID settings, on Android in Google Play (Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions).
- Delete your account: in Open notes go to Profile, then Delete account (or use Delete account in the OPEN SLOT apps, or, without the app, use openslot.cc/delete-account or write to hello@openslot.cc). You are signed out at once. Seven days after you confirm, your name, phone number, email, photo and the cloud copy of your notes are permanently erased; write to us before then if you change your mind. Records we must keep by law (section 7) stay, but no longer show your name. The notes on your phone are yours: the delete screen can erase them too, or you can delete the app. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in your Apple ID settings (iPhone, iPad or Mac) or in Google Play (Android).
Write to hello@openslot.cc for any other request. We may need to confirm who you are first.
9. Security
Your information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and is kept behind access controls on our servers. Your cloud copy is not end-to-end encrypted: we do not read your notes, and access is limited to what is needed to run and secure the Service, or to what the law requires, but we can technically reach them. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
Open notes is for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Where information is processed
Your information may be processed and stored in India and in other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we take steps to make sure it is appropriately protected.
12. Grievance Officer
Grievance Officer, A GOOD LIFE

We acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India as provided under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version in the app with a new date, and tell you about changes that matter. If you keep using the Service after that, you accept the update.
